El Gobierno anuncia un embargo de armas a Israel por Real Decreto Ley (English Version below:)
- La medida se oficializaría mañana en el próximo Consejo de Ministros del 9 de septiembre de 2025
- Esta es una demanda que más de 600 organizaciones de la sociedad civil llevan 23 meses exigiendo
Esto es una victoria del pueblo palestino que lleva décadas exigiendo que se ponga fin a la complicidad con Israel y de la sociedad civil de todo el estado que lleva 23 meses luchando incansablemente para poner fin al comercio de armas con Israel.
Entre otras medidas, el Presidente ha anunciado la aprobación urgente de un real decreto ley que consolidaría jurídicamente el embargo de armas a Israel. También ha anunciado la prohibición del tránsito por puertos españoles a todos los barcos que transporten combustibles destinados a las Fuerzas Armadas israelíes. Y ha anunciado la denegación de entrada al espacio aéreo español a todas aquellas aeronaves de Estado que transporten material de defensa destinado a Israel.
Ante el anuncio de Sánchez, la convocatoria de mañana ante Delegaciones del Gobierno de todo el Estado es más importante que nunca y por eso la mantenemos. Es en el Consejo de Ministros de mañana donde se redactará y aprobará el texto final, no siendo hasta entonces cuando conoceremos los detalles de esta medida y podremos valorar mejor el alcance real del embargo propuesto. Es imprescindible que el Gobierno sienta una vez más nuestra presión y cumpla con sus palabras.
Es esencial que el embargo de armas incluya todas las importaciones, exportaciones y tránsitos. Asimismo, el embargo debe de ser retroactivo y aplicable a la contratación pública y privada, presente y futura, para así rescindir de una vez por todas los 46 contratos públicos con empresas de armas israelíes, sus filiales en España y con empresas españolas que fabrican productos de defensa con acuerdos de transferencia de tecnología o con certificación por parte de la industria israelí. Así mismo, exigimos que todos los partidos políticos del Congreso apoyen estas medidas.
Pedro Sánchez ha mentido una vez más diciendo que el embargo se estaba aplicando “de facto”. Nada más lejos de eso. Prueba de ello es que durante los meses de febrero a mayo de 2025, España ha sido el país de la UE que más armas y municiones ha importado desde Israel. Seguiremos vigilantes para que el embargo esta vez sí se aplique y realmente no haya comercio de armas de ningún tipo con Israel.
Recordemos que sigue siendo imprescindible que se apruebe la Proposición de Ley que registramos el pasado mes de julio de 2024 y que blinda jurídicamente la figura de embargo a países que están siendo investigados por graves vulneraciones de derechos humanos. Pedimos también que el Gobierno trabaje para que estas medidas se extiendan a toda la comunidad internacional.
Aunque este anuncio llega muy tarde, ante las masacres indescriptiblemente horrorosas que lleva a cabo Israel en la Franja de Gaza y en toda Palestina, el anuncio de hoy supone un pequeño respiro que brinda esperanza y nos recuerda la importancia de las luchas populares. La comunicación de estas medidas no sería posible sin la lucha de cada una de nosotras. Queremos agradecer a todas las personas, colectivos, organizaciones, sindicatos, partidos políticos que luchan incansablemente para detener el comercio de armas con Israel. No vamos a parar hasta que se ponga fin a toda la complicidad y relaciones con el estado genocida de Israel, y toda Palestina sea libre.

The Government announces an arms embargo on Israel through Royal Decree-Law
– The measure is set to be formalized tomorrow at the upcoming Council of Ministers on September 9th, 2025.
– This is a demand that more than 600 civil society organizations have been raising for the past 23 months.
This is a victory for the Palestinian people, who have spent decades demanding an end to complicity with Israel, and for civil society across the country, which has been tirelessly fighting for 23 months to end the arms trade with Israel.
Among other measures, the President has announced the urgent approval of a Royal Decree-Law that would legally consolidate the arms embargo on Israel. He also announced a ban on the transit through Spanish ports of all ships carrying fuel destined for the Israeli Armed Forces. Additionally, he announced that Spanish airspace would be closed to all state aircraft transporting defense materials bound for Israel.
In light of Sánchez’s announcement, tomorrow’s demonstrations at Government Delegations across the country are more important than ever—and so they will go ahead. It is at tomorrow’s Council of Ministers that the final text will be drafted and approved. Only then will we know the details of this measure and be able to fully assess the real scope of the proposed embargo. It is crucial that the Government once again feels our pressure and follows through on its promises.
The arms embargo must include all imports, exports, and transits. It must also be retroactive and apply to both public and private contracts, present and future, in order to put an end once and for all to the 46 public contracts with Israeli arms companies, their subsidiaries in Spain, and Spanish companies that manufacture defense products through technology transfer agreements or with certification from the Israeli arms industry. We also demand that all political parties in Congress support these measures.
Pedro Sánchez has once again lied by claiming that the embargo was being applied “de facto.” Nothing could be further from the truth. Proof of this is that between February and May 2025, Spain was the EU country that imported the most arms and ammunition from Israel. We will remain vigilant to ensure that this embargo is actually enforced and that no arms trade of any kind takes place with Israel.
Let us also remember that it remains essential to pass the Bill we registered in July 2024, which legally enshrines the mechanism of embargoes against countries under investigation for serious human rights violations. We also call on the Government to work to extend these measures to the entire international community.
Although this announcement comes far too late, given the indescribably horrific massacres carried out by Israel in Gaza and across Palestine, today’s announcement offers a small breath of hope and reminds us of the importance of grassroots struggles. The communication of these measures would not have been possible without the struggle of each and every one of us. We want to thank all the individuals, collectives, organizations, unions, and political parties who tirelessly fight to stop the arms trade with Israel. We will not stop until all complicity and ties with the genocidal State of Israel come to an end, and until all of Palestine is free.
Long live free Palestine! Let’s keep up the pressure until relations are completely severed!
